Terms and Conditions

Dr Eleanor Hockley – Wealth of Knowledge Tuition
Terms & Conditions (Effective from 1st September 2025)

Registration

Clients are required to provide adequate and up-to-date contact details to enable effective communication. This includes a postal address, email address, and telephone number(s).
These details will only be used in relation to tuition and will not be shared with third parties unless you explicitly request this or where there is a safeguarding duty to do so.
All records are GDPR-regulated. Personal contact details will be deleted two months after tuition ceases unless otherwise stated within this policy.

Payment

Lessons are booked and paid for monthly in advance. Lesson dates are detailed on the invoice.
Term dates follow Cheshire East Council term dates and not those of independent or grammar schools.
Lessons take place weekly during term time unless otherwise agreed. Tuition outside of term time may be arranged separately subject to availability.
Price increases take effect on 1st September each year. Written notice will be provided at least one month in advance.
Dr Eleanor Hockley is self-employed and responsible for her own tax and National Insurance contributions.

Invoices

Invoices are issued monthly by email for upcoming tuition. Payment is due within 7 days of the invoice date. Bank details are provided on the invoice.

Cancellation Policy – see also Termination Policy

If I cancel a lesson due to my own illness, emergency, or unavoidable personal appointment, the cost of the missed lesson will be deducted from the next invoice or credited forward.

If you wish to cancel a lesson, 48 hours’ notice is required.

  • Lessons cancelled with more than 48 hours’ notice will be credited or rescheduled where possible.
  • Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice will not be refunded or rescheduled.

In the event of frequent or repeated cancellations, I reserve the right to reallocate the student’s lesson slot.

If a student (or a member of their household) is unwell with an infectious illness, or has been kept off or sent home from school due to illness, I will only offer online tuition or cancellation in line with the above terms.

If a student appears unwell during a lesson, the lesson will be deemed cancelled by you with less than 48 hours’ notice.

Adverse Weather Policy

In the event of adverse weather conditions where travel is unsafe or not possible, lessons will not be refunded.

Where appropriate, I will provide either:

  • an online lesson, or
  • substitute work to be completed independently.

The decision regarding whether an online lesson or substitute work is provided will be made by me, using professional judgement and taking into account safety, practicality, and the student’s ability to engage.

Work in Lieu of a Lesson / Substitute Work

Where a lesson cannot take place as scheduled, or where I am asked to provide work in place of a live lesson (for example due to illness, anxiety, burnout, availability, or parental request), this constitutes professional time and is chargeable.

A minimum charge of one hour applies for substitute work provided in place of a lesson. This may include planning, differentiation, resource creation, marking, written feedback, or guidance for parents or students.

Charges may exceed one hour where the volume or complexity of work requires additional preparation or marking time. Where possible, this will be discussed in advance.

Substitute work is provided in place of, not in addition to, a scheduled lesson unless otherwise agreed.

Termination Policy

Either party may terminate tuition by providing one month’s written notice.
Any outstanding credit or balance will be refunded to the nominated bank account within one month of termination.

Time Keeping

Lessons begin promptly at the scheduled time and finish 55 minutes later. Students should be available a few minutes prior to the session to ensure full use of the allotted time.

If parents wish, part of the session may be used for brief progress discussion. More detailed discussions can be arranged separately and may be chargeable.

Behaviour

I reserve the right to cancel or terminate tuition immediately without notice in the event of behaviour that makes tuition unsafe or unworkable.
Any outstanding balance will be refunded within one month.

Examination Results

I am not responsible or liable for examination results or outcomes. This clause supersedes any explicit or implicit statements regarding progress or attainment.

Special Requests

I reserve the right to charge for services outside standard tuition sessions, including but not limited to:

  • Completion of forms or questionnaires for professionals
  • Additional written reports (e.g. EHCP reviews, tribunal evidence, litigation)
  • Attendance at meetings, including MDT or review meetings

Fees for such work will be communicated in advance wherever possible.

Privacy Policy

Wealth of Knowledge Tuition does not share personal data without explicit consent, except where safeguarding concerns require disclosure to relevant authorities.

Data held includes names, contact details, payment records, and lesson progress. Lesson records are retained for up to two years following the final lesson unless deletion is requested.

Under GDPR, you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability. Requests are free of charge and will be responded to within one month.
